What company couldn’t use some great publicity now and then?
Most companies in most industries can benefit from engaging in PR – the question is, “how do you optimize your PR strategy and cultivate the “right” story?”
In this blog, we’ll outline a few best practices when it comes to gaining the publicity that will help to increase exposure and impact your sales.
PR Practices You Can Implement TODAY:
A. BEST PRACTICE:
Pitch an article to a media outlet whose readers are aligned to your demographic. For example, reach out to a corporate trade journal if you offer corporate services that would benefit the companies reading that journal.
B. BEST PRACTICE:
Poll your company leadership and make a list of 5 -10 values that someone could use to describe your company. Any time you reach out to a media outlet, try to incorporate those values into sound bites, talking points, or articles. Over time, those PR pieces will start to demonstrate common themes that will help your values resonate with your audience.
C. BEST PRACTICE:
When publicizing events, community programs, or corporate changes (new staff, new office, or new offerings), identify the key information that will help your audience understand relevant aspects. For events, don’t just list time, date, and place, but focus on the VALUE of that event to the people who may attend. For corporate changes, outline why new staff members may be able to make the company more competitive and/or drive sales.
Remember: PR isn’t just for celebrities, big name businesses, or industry giants. Engaging in PR can increase your credibility, boost understanding of your products or services, and impact your bottom line!
